Recent purchase

Ditty boxes were used by sailors and fisherman in the 19th and early 20th century to keep their personal possessions while at sea. Things liked photos, money, pens, letters and other valuables could be locked away in these secure boxes. This example is local to north east Scotland and bears a brass plaque with the owners name H WATSON WHITEHILLS and is in excellent condition.
