LARGE DECORATIVE BUTTERCUP DAIRY CROC WITH LID
This large decorative early 20th century BUTTERCUP DAIRY CO. croc with lid has a great look with attractive dairy cow transfer.
The Buttercup Dairy Co. was an iconic brand founded by grocer Andrew Ewing around 1900 and at its peak had 250 shops in Scotland selling dairy products....the equivalent of TESCO today.
This croc we think would have held salted butter and is the large 7LB size measuring 22cms high x 24 wide.
The croc was made in Edinburgh by Buchan Portobello.
The croc is in VG condition overall though there is a chip to the lid and a couple of firing marks below the cows head, overall though a superb piece of decorative kitchenalia in a hard to find size.
