Late Victorian art nouveau silver topped claret jug in the Christopher Dresser style
This excellent cut glass and silver claret jug has an angular handle very much in the manner of Christopher Dresser.
The claret jug was hallmarked in Birmingham in 1901, the last year of Queen Victorias reign and has a makers mark which looks like SBM on one side and also on the lid.
The jug is in very nice condition though the original finial has recently been resoldered as this was broken off....see pics.
The silver collar and spout have been engraved with flowers and leaves, the handle has been left plain and the cut glass is in excellent condition.
The angular handle comes well to the hand and overall this is a super late Victorian claret jug ready for use.
The jug is 25cms high.
